- Advanced session
An OphyAI Copilot session at the Advanced level, which uses 25 credits instead of the 15 a Standard or Technical session uses.
- AI interview copilot
Software that listens to a live interview and suggests what to say while the call is happening, usually based on your resume and the job description. It is different from a mock interview tool, which you use before the interview to practice.
- Credits
The unit some tools use to measure use. On OphyAI, each plan includes a number of credits a month and each session uses a set number: 15 for a Standard or Technical Copilot session, 25 for Advanced.

- Live coding round
An interview where you write code in a shared editor or an online platform such as CoderPad or HackerRank while the interviewer watches and asks questions.
- Live transcript
Text of what is being said, written as the call happens. A copilot builds its suggestions from the transcript, so clear audio and a quiet room make a real difference.
- One-way video interview
A recorded interview with no live interviewer. Questions appear on screen or play as short videos, and you record each answer on camera, often with a time limit. HireVue and Spark Hire are common platforms.
- Phone screen
A short first interview, usually with a recruiter, held by phone or as a voice-only call. It checks basics such as your background, interest in the role and pay range before the longer interviews.
- Prep brief
A short briefing built before an interview from your resume, the job description and the company: likely questions, talking points and advice for the type of interview.
- Proctoring software
Software some online tests and interviews use to watch the session, for example through your webcam, by locking the browser, or by checking which apps are running. No screen-share setting hides a window from it.
- Question type
The kind of question a copilot thinks it heard, such as behavioral, technical or follow-up. The type shapes the suggestion: a behavioral question usually gets a STAR outline (situation, task, action, result).
- Response length
A setting that controls how long a copilot's suggestions are. Short suggestions are easier to read during a live call; OphyAI's phone app suggests starting on Short.
- System audio
The sound your computer plays, including the other side of a video call. A desktop app that can hear system audio picks up the interviewer directly, with no virtual audio cable and no need for speakers.
- System design round
An interview where you design a large software system, such as a chat app or a URL shortener, by talking through requirements, estimates, components and trade-offs, usually on a whiteboard tool.
- Whisper Mode
OphyAI's name for its browser answer window: a private picture-in-picture window that shows suggestions during a call. It can show up if you share your entire screen, so share a single tab or window instead.
