Questions and answers

Answer in brief

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask most about AI interview copilots. Each answer links to the entry with the full detail.

Basics

What is an AI interview copilot?

Software that listens to a live interview and suggests what to say while the call is happening. It writes a live transcript, works out the type of question, and shows a short outline based on your resume and the job description. See how a copilot works.

How is a copilot different from a mock interview tool?

A mock interview tool is for practice before the interview: it asks questions and gives feedback afterwards. A copilot works during the real interview. Many people practice with one and keep the other as a safety net.

Does a copilot write my answers for me?

It suggests a structure and talking points. Reading a full answer word for word usually sounds flat, so the better habit is to glance at the outline and answer in your own words, from your real experience.

Does an AI interview copilot work in other languages?

Many do. OphyAI's Interview Copilot supports 35 languages for listening to questions and writing suggestions. Test the language you will interview in during a free session.

Setup

Desktop, browser or phone: which is best?

A desktop app is best for most video calls, because it hears system audio and the operating system can keep its window out of a screen share. A browser version suits computers where you cannot install software. A phone app runs beside your laptop with nothing on the interview computer. See the full comparison.

Can the interviewer see my copilot?

If you share your entire screen and the copilot runs in a browser window, yes. A desktop app on Mac or Windows can ask the operating system to leave its window out of screen shares and recordings. Nothing hides a window from a webcam, a person in the room, or proctoring software, so do not plan around being unseen.

Does a copilot work with Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams?

Most do, and OphyAI also lists Webex and phone interviews. The details that matter are how the copilot hears the call and how you share your screen. See copilots with Zoom, Google Meet and Teams.

Can a copilot help with a phone interview?

Only if it can hear the call. If you take the call on your computer, a desktop app hears it through system audio. A desktop app cannot hear a call on your cell phone, so ask whether the call can move to a link. See phone interview copilot.

Rules

Is using an AI interview copilot allowed?

It depends on the employer. Some allow AI help, some ban it, and many say nothing. Schools and online tests have their own rules. If AI help is banned, do not use a copilot. Breaking a stated rule can cost you the offer or the job later.

What if the rules are not clear?

Ask the recruiter before the interview. A short, neutral question works: "Are candidates allowed to use notes or AI tools during the interview?" If the answer is no, prepare without one.

About this site

Who runs this site?

OphyAI runs this site, and OphyAI is our own product. That is why it is our editorial choice. Read this site as an OphyAI guide, not an independent review. We earn nothing from the other tools listed. The About page has the full explanation, and Related websites explains how this site connects to its sister guide.

How was OphyAI chosen?

It was checked against the criteria on How we chose: where it runs, how it hears the call, the kind of suggestions it gives, the rounds it covers, a free way to test it, and plain prices and limits. It is an editorial pick, not a measured ranking.

Why are other tools listed?

Because people compare them. The homepage lists a few other copilots with one plain line from each tool's own website and a link, so you can look for yourself. They are not scored, priced or ranked here.
